I can't believe I only have a couple more days up in Michigan! The time has flown by, but we haven't really done a lot. The weather has been wonderful so we've been outside reading, sitting on the beach, swimming. There's been a constant stream of family and friends which has also been nice. Unfortunately today is pretty overcast but maybe a day out of the sun is a good thing!
I had another Turkish night. Here are some pictures from that:
These were red lentil "meatballs" (mercimek kofte) with a lot of onion and spring onion. They are best with a lettuce leaf and a little lemon squirted on them.
These are borek - phillo dough with various things inside. I made some with meat and another with potato. You can also use spinach, cheese, olive, or eggplant.
These are bulgur "meatballs" (bulgur kofte) and it's bulgur with red pepper and tomato paste, shaped into little patties, boiled, and topped with garlicy yogurt and paprika butter. They taste a little bland but with the sauces on top I really enjoy them.
Plate of food
I was a little nervous cooking for such a crowd of people but there was enough and everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Sunset, right from our backstep.
Every year we take a family photo wearing these T-shirts. We're at Pyramid point in these photos, a place about 30 minutes away from us with a gorgeous view ontop of a mountain/cliff.
The shirt the stuffed animal is wearing that Veronica is holding - I used to fit in that!
Here's a 6 second video of Heath, Veronica, and I running down - it's best with the sound on.
And what we have to climb to get back up...
That's it for now! I hope you all are having a great summer and aren't suffering from the heat too much. Take care!
